All I want it to do is generate an image of a woman (me) wearing a sweater. JUST A GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING SWEATER!! BUT NO!!! Thats because that request violates our content policies. OH FUCKING REALLY?!?! How about you just generate an image of a sweater by ielf & not being worn by anyone. NOPE, IT CANT DO THAT EITHER!!! Apparently a sweater just by ielf with nothing else in the picture is SOMEHOW ALSO A VIOLATES THEIR CONTENT POLICIES!!! Meanwhile I see nothing but big-tittied women getting generated & posted all over this & other subs. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK OPENAI?!?!?!

Anybody got any suggestions for this other than ditching ChatGPT forever???

Edit: Im on the $20 bucks per month plan. Do you get to violate more content policies on the $200 bucks per month plan or what?

The ones who survive now, like then, will be those who learn to use the new tools. AI in the hands of a real designer can produce much better work than someone just using promp to make a "pretty" picture. yeah i nice when you can save 90% of the time by ou```ourcing early to mid stage design work to chat gpt.

however

this also means that in a company where 10 designers were hired and needed, now with chat gpt and other generative applications the company needs only one or two of them.

this attitude is better than complaining, but it wont change the fact that this ai bullshit is killing the design labour market! Have AI create an entire brand using a client's mission statement and psychographic data, including designing a unique and innovative logo and branding guidelines, incorporating the brand's "voice." Design the branding guidelines so an idiot can understand them. Vectorize everything and use the correct color space along all mediums and the correct DPI for printing. Use precise file naming conventions and create exceptionally clean files. Then use the brand across to design (using universal design principles like hierarchy and the grid system) numerous diverse mediums so it is cohesive, but not monotonous. Design a website, bookle, posters, business cards, social media pos, slide decks, subway signs, roll banners, table drapes, signage (including effective ADA compliance), and merch that conveys a targeted message not even the client fully understands. Revise, revise, revise.

In addition to all of this, educate and communicate with the client, and subtly nudge them to believe that your ideas are actually theirs, so they will accept them. Revise again. Create multiple client presentations, including mockups, and do it on a deadline.

People have no idea what a graphic designer does. Clien who want the best resul will choose the human every time. Do I believe that graphic designers will lose their jobs? Yes, likely. But I truly think that no one here has any idea what a designer does, and they are almost gleeful that people WILL lose their jobs. It's not just "image generation." Ok I'm gonna use your post to go on a tangent.

The recent "Ghibli mania" is a clear sign why graphic designers and artis``` will stay and improve. People got access to this insanely powerful tool that can create ANYTHING and yet EVERYONE made the same thing. Internet is flooded with Ghibli filters because people LACK creativity. It's mindblowing how people insist on doing the same thing as others instead of creating something unique, personal, creative, and ALIVE.

AI in the hands of artis can produce art that we can't even think of today, allowing them to unleash creativity without limi. Power to OP and others that are not fighting change and instead using it to make more great AT. My lame ass might have the tool to generate a protrait of myself in the renaissance era painting style, but only TRUE creators have the creativity to make something impactful, unique, and touching.

The ability to create logos, artwork, short movies, snippe of music, etc. out of nothing feels incredible. I've always loved to do little projec here and there just for fun when I get an idea. I am a designer by nature and I work the best when I have the resources to use and arrange to make something interesting, and AI helps with that.

I don't have to sit in front of Photoshop and YouTube tutorials for hours anymore, nor do I have to commission someone $150 just for a social media avatar. I feel like I can thrive more as an artist myself having access to these tools.

But why am I not allowed to use them? I just see people screeching about "AI slop" regardless of the nuance or how something was worked on. I do see some of the things people post on Reddit or YouTube or whatever are just quick, thoughtless ideas with trash AI speech over them hoping to make a quick buck - I get it, I do.

So why can't I use it to create background art for a project? Or make a selection of character profile pictures understanding what to fix on a generation and how to keep consistency? I can generate a hundred songs just to find an idea for something I want to make based on it.

Bit of a rant, I'm sorry, but I just want to be able to use this literal magic to bring more art into the world without being gatekept by people telling me what art truly is.

I think a lot of the backlash from using AI comes from the morality (or perceived morality) around how these models are trained. OpenAI for example, just scraped the web for years to train CharGPT. This includes copyrighted things, like artwork. So it takes that copyrighted piece and produces a like replica, however you ask it to. Thereby cutting the artist out, depriving them of money they are legally owed, while also claiming their work (that was used to train your model) as your own (or OpenAI's own).

I don't have an issue with it for personal use, but it does get a little morally gray once you start profiting off of your prompt resul```.

Similar will happen with contracting work, a major sector of art as a profession, as more and more companies consolidate into AI because of the sheer volume of slop a bot is able to put out. We're already seeing this on a small scale, as some small indie teams have already been dipping their toes into offloading all art asse onto image generation models in the gaming space, and there's dozens of tech startups you can find who use marketing material solely or majority comprised of AI imagery. Something can definitely be soulless and popular enough to put competitors out of work.
